2022 Goals

It’s the fourth week into the new year and today I’m finally sharing my goals for 2022. Last week, I shared my word of the year for 2022. You’ll have to read my blog post to learn what word I chose.

This year I was slow to rush into planning my goals and share them with the world. I wanted to pray about them, tweak my vision board a bit, and really use the past three weeks as a period to rest my mind.

After reading the book, Lazy Genius by Kendra Adachi in 2021, I decided to utilize her approach to goal setting. To reframe the way you think about your goals, Kendra recommends that you ask yourself these four questions first: who do you want to be, why does being this person matter, how are you more like this person than you were a year ago, how will life be different with these goals. This way of thinking helped me be intentional about setting my goals this year.

Here are a few of my 2022 Goals:

Pay Down Debt

It’s time to get intentional about my relationship with money. If you’ve been following this blog for a while you may have read briefly about my long-term goal to become debt-free. From 2015 to 2020, I was really focused on paying off my debts. Well 2021 hit, the pandemic arrived. I paused all of my debt-free journey and went into savings mode. I’m now focused on getting back at tackling my debts. In my next blog post, I’ll share more about my journey to becoming debt-free and what my plan of action is for becoming financially free this year.

Expand my prayer life

As a Christian, I believe prayer is one of the most powerful tools we have in our possession. I look back at times when the power of prayer changed my life. Right now, I have to admit my prayer life is kind of sucky. It’s very seasonal. I do my daily devotionals but I could be better about talking to God daily. This year, I want to do better about developing a prayer routine where I pray for myself and others.

Tap back into my creativity and invest in my blog

Next month marks my 13th blogging anniversary. I can’t believe it’s been that long!  It’s been a wild ride and the blogging industry keeps evolving. There have been times when I’ve wanted to hang up my blogging hat because I didn’t feel the passion anymore. It wasn’t until recently that I discovered that I truly miss writing and creating content on a regular basis. I recently listened to an episode of Thrive, a podcast for influencers and bloggers and she outlined how to plan all of your content for the entire year in one weekend. Tips shared were a good reminder and motivated me going into this year. This year, I want to experiment more with video and collaborate with more brands. I also want to double the amount of revenue I generate from my blog. Last year, the majority of the extra income I generated came from my freelance work. This year I want to invest more in my blog.

  • Be consistent. I’ve set a goal of publishing at least once a week every Sunday evening. I need to keep at it and plan ahead. Every once in a while you’ll see posts published more than once a week but right now this seems doable. That’s 52 blog posts a year.

  • Diversify the content I create: blog posts, reels, video content, Tik Tok

  • Create new paid brand partnerships. Historically I haven’t pitched brands for partnerships, they’ve always approached me. This year, I’ve mapped out a list of brands that I would like to collaborate with.

  • Map out my content calendar for the next three months

  • Focus on Pinterest-Pinterest is where most of my followers are and I want to focus on creating exclusive content for the 13k people that follow me there.

Prioritize my health: Focus on renewing my mind, body, and soul

Late last year, I shared an important health update with my readers and online community. This recent health news put a spotlight on the importance of renewing my mind, body, and soul but also pushed me to be intentional about my health and wellness journey. This year, I’m really focused on physical health and emotional well-being. I want to get back into the routine of exercising daily and meditating. I’ve discovered that I’m my best self when I exercise and meditate. I’m happier and more productive. I also want to increase my fruit and veggie intake. I’ve started going to STAT Wellness and will start to work with their in-house dietitian and health coaching team over the course of the next few months. I’ve also started seeing my therapist again. Mental health is a priority to me and it’s important to check in with a mental health professional several times throughout the year.

Be intentional about setting boundaries

I am a bit of a workaholic. I love what I do which makes it hard to put work away sometimes. Coming from working in a toxic work environment for years truly does something to your mindset. When you finally find a place that you truly love and values work-life balance it can be hard to adjust. I need to set better boundaries so I can truly have a work-life balance and start and end my workday at a set time. I also want to spend less time online and start to enjoy my personal life. There are times when I’ll spend hours after my workday ends mindlessly scrolling through social media or hours on the phone with a friend. I recently discovered the “Focus” setting on IOS devices and it’s going to be a gamechanger for my productivity.

Invest in myself

2021 was a year of personal transformation for better or worse. I truly found myself investing in my own personal development, speaking up more, taking risks, and learning to love myself more. I saw myself introspectively like never better. I want to continue with this mindset as we move forward in 2022. I tell my close friends, I am focused on getting “my sexy back”. I want to keep that mantra going for this year.

I hope this inspired you to set goals for the new year. What are your goals for 2022?
