After Sunday Dinner

Things i’m loving, wanting and excited to try: 9.15.24

Happy Sunday! As the last week of summer draws to a close, I'm enjoying a cozy day indoors in Atlanta. The overcast skies and cool breeze create the perfect atmosphere for a quiet day at home. With a load of laundry running and my furry companion, Pebbles, by my side, I'm catching up on my favorite shows. It’s a much-needed break from a hectic work schedule.

The weekend was a delightful blend of self-care and cultural immersion. I went to get my monthly facial and check out the new Alicia Keys and Swizz Beats Giants exhibit at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta. The Giants exhibit showcases 10 percent of Alicia Keys and Swizz Beats personal art collection. The entire exhibit is fabulous and I’m so grateful to have seen these pieces of black art.

I'm currently in a season of prioritizing activities that bring me joy. It's a conscious effort to focus on what truly matters and to make time for the things that make me happy.

Speaking of joy, let's talk about what I'm loving, wanting to buy, and excited to try right now.

What I’m currently loving…

  • I’m currently trying out the 30-day trial of Alo Moves and I’m obsessed. I tried a few of the workouts on the Fitbit premium app and decided to do some further investigation and try out the online platform for a few months.

  • My dietitian recently introduced me to the concept of wearing blue light glasses first thing in the morning and at night before bed. I purchased a few pairs of glasses on sale at Peppers

What I’m excited to try…

  • I’m on the search for a new mascara that doesn’t irritate my sensitive eyes. You’ll rarely see me wearing eye shadow or mascara because I usually end up with a stye on my eye. So after a long-awaited search, I think I found the mascara for me. It’s by Bobbi Brown’s line Jones Road. It’s an all-natural paraben-free mascara.

What I’m currently reading:

  • For my personal development, I’m currently reading the book Worthy by Jamie Kern Lima. I’m in a season of rediscovering my self-worth. I have a ton of self-confidence and recently learned that there is a big difference between self-worth and self-confidence. This book has been helping in my journey.

  • For my spiritual development, I’m currently reading a devotional that I picked up at my neighborhood library book sale. This is a gem and God is speaking to me at the season of life I’m in.

  • For fun, I recently downloaded Hannah Brown’s new rom-com novel to listen to.

Articles and Podcasts I’ve bookmarked:

  • If you are a Christian single, I just discovered this podcast called The Heart of Dating. I’m newly single and listening to this podcast has been so helpful for me as I navigate this new season of life.

  • If you need to quiet inner negative thoughts, I recommend listening to this podcast episode on quieting inner thoughts.

  • With the start of fall just a few days away, I’m looking forward to trying this sheet pan roasted chicken and acorn squash recipe. The rich warm flavors are calling my name.

Purchases I’ve made in the last week:

  • I am in the process of planning a large conference at work and need business attire. I purchased a top from Abercrombie to wear at the conference next week.

  • I’m headed on a personal retreat next month to Civana Resort in Arizona. I booked my hotel room and flights this week. I’m so excited for this much-needed vacation.

What I’ve watched:

  • I watched the new season of Emily in Paris this weekend. I loved how her wardrobe team styled the character this season.

  • I’m currently catching up on the latest season of Celebrity IOU on HGTV. I love home renovation shows and this is one show that always warms my heart.

I want to hear from you. What’s one thing you discovered this week that you liked, loved or want to add to your shopping cart?
