6 things to buy at Lidl

This weekend my mom and I met up to check out a new Lidl location that just opened up here in Atlanta. My mom and I are both penny pinchers and always want the best bargain. We are huge fans of Aldi and we heard good things about this European grocery chain too. I’ve shopped at Lidl before but it was a quick trip and I didn’t spend much time going through the aisles. This time I had a chance to go in with an open mind and price compare. Lidl will continue to expand throughout the United States and the Atlanta area. So a location may open near you soon. If you have a chance to stop into your nearest Lidl, here are six items you should purchase during your next trip to the low-cost grocery store.

Fresh Baked Goods from the Lidl Bakery

The minute you walk into Lidl, the smell of freshly baked goods hits your nose right away. It makes you want to take a quick detour to the bakery. The one thing that I loved about Lidl vs Aldi is the in-house bakery. Lidl has freshly baked bread, cookies, and pastries ready for you to pick up. I grabbed a few peanut butter cookies to go.

The Produce

Lidl has a great produce selection filled with fresh fruit and vegetables. The prices were pretty reasonable compared to the regular grocery store. I grabbed some fresh fruit and vegetables to eat throughout the week.

Freshly Cut Flowers

I was surprised to see freshly cut flowers in the floral section right by the store entrance. The store clerk said they replace them daily and always have a variety to choose from. They had lilies on sale for $5.99 on the day we went.

Organic Goods

Lidl has a great selection of organics goods and produce at great prices. I was surprised to find organic spices for $1.95, a dozen organic eggs for $2.79 and organic spaghetti sauce for $1.89.

Wine Selection

Lidl has a vast selection of private label wine, beer and cider. The store I went to had an entire aisle filled with alcohol. Most of the wines were priced under $10 and sorted out by wine varietal.

European Goods

If you are looking for unique European goods you might find them at Lidl. Lidl carries a great selection of international fine foods. My mom stumbled upon this long spaghetti pasta that she had growing up and some German chocolate cookies she loves.
