4 dairy-free ice creams and frozen desserts you must try this summer
July is National Ice Cream Month. Whether you’re dairy-free, lactose-intolerant, vegetarian, or vegan you may feel my sentiment about being bummed about missing the visit to the local ice cream shop or waving down the neighborhood ice cream truck this summer. But the good news is you can still beat the summer heat. There are more dairy-free ice cream and frozen dessert options hitting grocery store freezer sections these days to meet our palettes. I took it upon myself to taste test a few of the dairy-free ice creams on the market.
Jeni’s Dairy-Free Texas Sheet Cake
This dairy-free ice cream takes the cake literally. With hints of cake crumbles throughout this chocolate fudge ice cream, each spoonful brings rich, bold, and chocolatey flavors. It reminds me of a chocolate birthday cake. This ice cream is made out of coconut cream but it doesn’t have a coconut taste.
Oat-ly
Oat Frozen Dessert
I love oat milk! I was excited to try this oat ice cream by Oat-ly. It has a creamy consistency and the oat and vanilla flavor aren’t overpowering. I really enjoyed this one and it may be a substitute for vanilla in my household.
So Delicious Oatmilk Oatmeal Cookie
This dairy-free ice cream flavor by so delicious was yummy! It reminded of scooping into a batter of oatmeal cookie dough. It has hints of cinnamon, brown sugar and vanilla. This would go great with a side of peach pie.
Jeni’s Frose Sorbet
Bummed about missing your caribbean vacation this summer? Jeni’s Frose Sorbet is worth diving into and will solve all of your summer vacay sorrows. This frozen dessert reminds me of a glass of sangria. It has refreshing hints of fruity but tart flavors.
