My New York Trip Via Instagram: Part One

Last week I was in New York for a few days to visit friends and attend a blogger workshop hosted by Better Homes and Gardens Magazine. Only 50 bloggers from around the country were hand selected to attend. I had a great time at the workshop and I was honored to be invited!

I loved being able to meet several bloggers, I have admired and looked up to for a while like Made by Girl, The Little Kitchen, House of Earnest, and Myers Style. It was also a great way to connect and make new friends with bloggers like Julie Blanner, Creative Juice, and I Heart Organizing.

The workshop started on Thursday morning with panels led by the editors of the magazine. After lunch we were broken up into subgroups were we had time to meet and talk to the editors about ideas for the magazine. We also attended a styling a session with lifestyle expert, Eddie Ross on how to style your table setting for photos.

Later that night we all came back to the Eventi Hotel for a cocktail party and panel session with Apartment Therapy's Maxwell Gillingham-Ryan; East Coast Editor/Producer for Better Homes & Gardens Magazine, Eddie Ross; Designer,Kayce Hughes and Food Stylist, Annette Joseph

On Friday morning, we were invited to tour the Meredith Publishing offices in New York where Ladies Home Journal, Family Circle, Better TV, and Rachael Ray magazine are housed. This tour was amazing! We had a chance to visit the test kitchens, food studio, photography studio, and the set of Better TV. The features and beauty sections of Better Homes and Gardens are located in New York while the rest of the magazine is in Des Moines, Iowa. As apart of our tour we met with Fashion and Beauty Director, Ellen Miller were she discussed fall beauty and fashion trends with us. During our visit with her she showed us this amazing floral top from Old Navy that every blogger from the workshop will probably be buying. (I went out yesterday afternoon and brought one for myself)

I want to extend a thank you to the amazing team at Better Homes and Gardens magazine for putting together a great event.

Tomorrow, I'll be sharing details about the rest of my time in New York. So stay tuned!
