My New York Trip Via Instagram: Part Two
On Monday, I recapped my experience at the Better Homes and Gardens Stylemaker Workshop. Now its time I tell you about the rest of my trip. I stayed with a friend of mine who lives in the East Village. This was my first time staying in the area and I loved it. The East Village reminds me of home, its semi-quiet and people are always walking down the street. The area is filled with art galleries and restaurants.
On Friday after my tour of the Meredith Publishing offices, I set up meetings with people from brands I've worked with in the past like Birchbox, KIND Snacks, and Rent the Runway. Stay tuned for details on some exciting projects in the works with these companies. I also visited the Rent the Runway showroom to try on dresses for my friend Susan's wedding in November. We are renting dresses from Rent the Runway. I've rented from Rent the Runway before and they are a great place to look for designer dresses you may need for a special event.
After an afternoon of meetings, I cooled off in the New York library.
On Friday evening, I was left alone in the city to have dinner on my own. So I ventured out in the East Village to find a place to eat and I stumbled upon this quite little restaurant called Northern Spy. After reading reviews online this seemed like the perfect place to eat. I ordered their Kale Salad and Fried Green Tomatoes with a crab and bean slaw. I love a good kale salad and theirs was pretty awesome! It's tossed with parmesan cheese, almonds, and a winter squash.
After eating at Northern Spy, I met up with my friend in Bowery for drinks.
My flight was due to leave New York on Saturday evening. So I wanted to make Saturday morning my opportunity to sight see in New York. My friend and I woke up early Saturday and headed to Cafe Orlin for breakfast. I ordered the pumpkin pancakes and he ordered the eggs Benedict. The pumpkin pancakes are to die for, so if you are ever in the area this is the place to go. We also grabbed juice from Liquiteria.
After breakfast I met up with two friends who I hadn't seen in a while in Columbus Circle. This was first time visiting this area so I had an opportunity to explore Central Park and the Columbus Circle Mall. My friend Kate and I stumbled upon an event at C.Wonder hosted by Master Card. That's were I got henna done on my hand and I won a $50 gift card. So Saturday was pretty amazing!
I love New York and I can't wait to visit again in the near future! This was the perfect way to kick off an amazing start to fall.
